Overview
The Valentine One has long been a standard in the radar detector industry. While many of the Valentine One’s features can be found in other, less expensive radar detectors, one feature continually proves to bring this radar detector back to the top of the list: the directional arrows. Using a dual antenna system, this model can accurately determine the location of any signal it picks up and in turn display it to you in relation to your current position: ahead, behind or to the side of.
Continuing reading for more a more in-depth look at the Valentine One’s features:
Most radar detectors utilize a single, front-facing antenna to cover in front of, behind and to the sides of your car. The Valentine One uses two, opposite facing antennas to report to an on-board computer that can analyze and triangulate the location of every radar alert.
Full Time POP Protection
Unlike other radar detectors, the Valentine One provides instant notification for POP signals across K and KA bands. Also, POP protection is provided full time, whereas on other radar detectors you must enable POP from a user menu.
Dual Volume Settings
The Valentine One allows you to specify not just the volume level for the initial alert for a detected signal, but also a “secondary” volume level for muted alerts – anywhere from no volume, all the way to full volume. This allows you to bring the volume of an alert down so that it isn’t blaring at you, but let it remain audible at a more tolerable tone.
Selectable K Band
K band has been known to contain a lot of false alarms, as has the X band. The Valentine One can be programmed to alert K band signals at the muted volume level at the onset of an alert, then come on at full volume after a programmable amount of time. Also, in optional Euro Mode, K band can be disabled completely.
Bogey Counter
Unlike many other radar detectors, the Valentine One tracks multiple alerts at one time. For example, you may pick up on alert caused by a known X band burglar alarm. Most detectors would display this single alert to you. However, there could be a police officer using a radar gun just up the road that you aren’t being warned of. The Valentine One lets you know exactly how many signals it is receiving, with each band, and which one it believes is the most worthy of your consideration.
Adjustable Modes
The Valentine One has three adjustable computer modes. In All-Bogeys mode, you are alerted to every received signal as soon as they are detected. In Logic mode the Valentine One judges X band alerts to be non-threatening and will report them at the muted volume. If they becoming threatening, the audio warning will upgrade to your primary volume setting. In Advanced-Logic mode, all X band alerts that the Valentine One believes to be something other than radar will not be reported at all. However, if you pick up an exceptionally strong X band alert, the Valentine One will report it to you.
