Overview

Built on the Escort Passport x50 8500 platform, the Escort Passport 9500i touts the addition of GPS technology to help eliminate the nuisance of false alerts. The 9500i will intelligently learn and remember areas with false alerts, and can permanently lock them out using its TrueLock feature. Also thanks to the built in GPS, this detector can measure vehicle speed and alter it’s detection sensitivity accordingly: at higher speeds, all radar bands operate at their full sensitivity, while at lower speeds X and K-band sensitivities are lessoned. The alert volume even automatically adjusts to ambient sounds to make sure it’s audible.

Continuing reading for more a more in-depth look at the Escort Passport 9500i’s features:

Multiple Band Protection

The radar guns used by police operate on several frequencies, much like AM or FM, called X band, K band, KA band and KU band (only used in European countries). The Escort Passport 9500i is capable of detecting radar signals across all four of these radar bands.

360 Degree Radar and Laser Detection

The Escort Passport 9500i radar antenna is capable of detecting radar signals in a full 360 degree range of your location.

Variable Speed Sensitivities

Using built in GPS technology, the Escort Passport 9500i can automatically adjust it’s radar detection sensitivity based on the speed of the vehicle. At higher speeds, all radar bands operate at full sensitivity. At slower speeds, X and K band sensitivities are reduced. At extremely slow speeds, such as in parking lots, or at a full stop, sensitivity is reduced to almost zero.

GPS Powered TrueLock Filter

In an effort to reduce the nusiance of false alarms, the Escort Passport 9500i features a new TrueLock system that allows you to, by the push of a button, register that location and alert frequency. Once registered, the TrueLock system will later reject those signals, while still alerting you to any new or different signals in that same location.

Mark Specific Locations

Working like the TrueLock feature, only in reverse, the Mark Location feature allows you to register certain locations where you would like a “reminder” alert. Perhaps it’s a place where police officers often like to hide, or a place where the speed limit decreases suddenly – once marked, any time you approach this location you will receive an unobtrusive courtesy alert to remind you of any potential danger.

Speed Alert

The Escort Passport 9500i tries to not only alert you of detected radar signals, but also give you the knowledge you need to take appropriate action as a result of an alert. When an alert is detected the detector displays the radar or laser band, the signal strength and your vehicle speed at the time of detection to help you make the best possible decision.

Voice Alerts

In addition to both audio and visual alerts, the Escort Passport 9500i also gives you the option to select voice alerts, which will present all alerts in crystal clear, voice communications.

Intelligent Volume

The Escort Passport 9500i can adjust it’s alert volume based on the ambient noise of the vehicle at the time. Using a miniature microphone, the detector monitors the ambient noise from music, passengers, wind noise, etc, and will adjust it’s volume level automatically to sure you take notice of any and all alerts.

5 Levels of Dimming / Dark Mode

For those trips that find you driving at night, the Escort Passport 9500i gives you five different levels of dimming, so that you can properly adjust it to a comfortable, while stile visible, level of brightness. In Dark Mode, the Escort Passport 9500i will be completely darkened out, and will give only audio alerts.

Immune to VG-2

Radar detectors emit their own signals that can be detected by other devices specifically looking for these frequencies. The VG-2 Intercepter was the first device developed for this purpose, and has been used by Police Officers to detect vehicles using radar detectors, in areas where the use of radar detectors are illegal. The VG-2 Interceptor, however, has since been eclipsed by the Spectre III.

Mute, AutoMute & SmartMute

Muting an alert is as easy as the touch of a button. If you have the AutoMute feature enabled (selectable via the user preferences) an alert will first sound at the volume level you have selected, but will then continue to alert you at a lower volume level.

Built In Earphone Jack

The Escort Passport 9500i sports a built in earphone jack so that you can receive your audio alerts via a set of standard headphones.
