Overview
It would be appropriate to compare the Beltronics Vector 995 to the Escort Passport 8500×50, as Beltronics and Escort are the same company and many of the internals of these two radar detectors are essentially the same as well. What the Beltronics Vector 995 has over the Escort Passport 8500×50, however, is an expanded KU band, appropriate for the expanded use of KU in European countries. This radar detector is perfect for anyone traveling overseas.
Continuing reading for more a more in-depth look at the Beltronics Vector 995’s features:
All Radar and Laser Band Coverage
The radar guns used by police operate on several frequencies, much like AM or FM, called X band, K band, KA band and KU band (only used in European countries). The Beltronics Vector 995 is capable of detecting radar signals across all four of these radar bands.
Multi-Sensor Laser Protection
The Beltronics Vector 995 features multiple laser sensor diodes for continuous laser detection.
Complete VG-2 Immunity
Radar detectors emit their own signals that can be detected by other devices specifically looking for these frequencies. The VG-2 Interceptor was the first device developed for this purpose, and has been used by Police Officers to detect vehicles using radar detectors, in areas where the use of radar detectors are illegal. The VG-2 Interceptor, however, has since been eclipsed by the Spectre III.
Digital “POP” Radar Alert
When radar detectors started proving that radar guns could be detected from miles away, manufacturers began producing “instant on” radar, also known as “pulse” radar. When used in instant on mode the radar does not emit any signal that is detectable by a radar detector. A police officer waits until his intended target is close, then releases the radar from its stand by mode to detect a speed reading within a second or less. Radar detectors can pick up on this detection, but most often not until it is too late.
In 2003 manufacturers began producing instant on guns that offer “pop” mode. These guns produce a burst of energy at less than 1/15th of a second, that is used to quickly acquire the speed of the vehicle almost instantaneously.
The Beltronics Vector 995 provides instant notification as soon as POP signals are detected.
Advanced AutoScan™ Processing
The Beltronics Vector 995 utilizes a patented analysis technology that can monitor multiple signals simultaneously.
Digital Signal Processing (DSP)
All incoming signals are analyzed for priority and only the most important and noteworthy alerts are displayed to you, providing a balance of sensitivity and selectivity.
Clear Digital Voice or Audio Alerts
The Beltronics 995 uses clear audio tones to provide alerts that you can hear, even in noisy environments. Optional digital voice alerts can help keep you fully informed of potential threats without you needing to take your eyes off the road.
Ultra-Bright High Definition Display
The display is made up of the brightest alphanumeric characters, making the Beltronics Vector 995 easy to read from any angle. You can select to display a bar graph depicting the band and signal strength, or opt for the “Tech Mode” display, which will show you the exact frequency of any detected signal.
Brightness Control with Dark Mode
For those trips that find you driving at night, the Beltronics Vector 995 gives you four different levels of dimming, so that you can properly adjust it to a comfortable, while stile visible, level of brightness. In Dark Mode, the Beltronics Vector 995 will be completely darkened out, and will give only audio alerts.
Mute and AutoMute Audio Controls
Muting an alert is as easy as the touch of a button. If you have the AutoMute feature enabled (selectable via the options) an alert will first sound at the volume level you have selected, but will then continue to alert you at a lower volume level.
Selectable City Mode Filtering
Choose from three levels of City mode filters, including low X and no X band for quiet operation around town.
Built In Earphone Jack
The Beltronics Vector 995 sports a built in earphone jack so that you can receive your audio alerts via a set of standard headphones.
So, how do you like the new digs? We’re pretty excited to have a fresh new look to go along with some big changes here at Radars for Rent, and we’d like to know what you think!
